The Governing Board recognizes the link between student health and learning and desires to provide a comprehensive program promoting healthy eating and physical activity for district students.

Local wellness policies are an important tool for parents and school districts in promoting student wellness, preventing and reducing childhood obesity, and providing assurance that school meal nutrition guidelines meet the minimum federal school meal standards.

As of School Year 2006-2007, all districts were required to establish a local school wellness policy and begin implementing the new requirements. Districts are encouraged to regularly review and update their local wellness policies.

The Waugh Board Policy was last reviewed, updated and approved in February, 2017.

Revolution Foods delivers tasty, healthy, home-style meals and nutrition education to schools across the San Francisco Bay Area and the Los Angeles Metropolitan area. Their belief is that every child’s education should include healthy eating and education about nutritious food. Revolution Foods maintains the integrity and quality of their meals by adhering to the food standards listed below:

  • Use of organic and locally produced ingredients from small family farms whenever possible.
  • Every lunch is served with fresh fruit and vegetables.
  • Meats, baked goods and produce meet Whole Foods Market’s quality standards.
  • Milk is rBST-free (hormone-free) and meats are free of antibiotics and hormones.
  • All food is prepared fresh daily; they do not serve fried, overly processed, or microwaved food.
  • Food does not contain high fructose corn syrup or trans fats.
  • Foods are free of artificial preservatives, colors, flavors and sweeteners. L


Lunch: hot or cold entrée with fresh fruit, fresh vegetables & milk (Example: handmade tamales with roasted zucchini, served with a Bosc pear & milk)


Field Trip Lunch: cold entrée with fresh fruit, & milk delivered the day before consumption in individual paper bags (Example: Diestel Farms natural turkey sandwich with romaine lettuce, organic cheese, an apple & all natural milk)


Beverage: all natural rBST-free (hormone-free) milk
