GATE

Students qualify for the Waugh District G.A.T.E. program through high scores on a combination of assessments. 

In the Waugh School District, we provide differentiated instruction to all students within the regular classroom setting. Our GATE program is primarily an after-school optional participation experience.  There will be more details in the near future about the after school offerings, but we wanted to get this information out to you.  We also offer a few exciting field trips that will occur during the school day, but they are also optional.   

We will participate in the Sonoma County Science Olympiad in April this year but will need some parent volunteers to help prepare our students (a teacher will also be working with this group). 

Outside of school, you may wish to explore options for your gifted and talented student to experience new topics. We highly recommend giving our band program and/or a musical instrument a try, visit local science and art museums frequently, and drama camps. During the summer months, enrichment programs can be interesting for students, such as the one offered   at Dominican University in San Rafael (Dominican Gifted Talented Program.)
